Born in exile he is a product of two freedom fighters: Solly Simelane and Nthabi Simelane caught in an armed struggle for the freedom of South Africa. Though South African, Mpande was born in Mozambique but spent most of his formative years in New York. Mpande hopes to shed light, love and positivity through his music and life in general. He prides himself on listening to and creating music with feeling, and a message.
